Psycho-Pass 2-2014 Director: Naoyoshi Shiotani | Animation Studio: Tatsunoko Production
Finally the return of the anime series have always thought as supremely intelligent and quite frankly may have some of the best anime opening theme songs. As an added bonus also the anime hold to a shiny pedestal. Psycho-Pass 2! The first episode was as strong as any episode from Psycho-Pass. Not surprisingly as is the case with Psycho-Pass it came back with a take no prisoners approach and quite the stylish look from all its characters. Even the new ones.
Who are these guys? I wonder if we will be getting their backgrounds sometime later.
We have Tsunemori (CV: Kana Hanazawa) being a leader now and quickly enough we realize she will soon along with her new team be up against a new threat. One where it will be difficult to fight against when he is in the same position as her in the Sybil system ruled society. So the story of Tsunemori’s personal battle begins…While I do like this tough Tsunemori. I do still feel like I would want more appearances of Kogami.
Now as something that comes with the territory of Psycho-Pass I have to make a mention on the animation. This is not being animated by Production I.G. anymore but rather Tatsunoko Production. I really could not tell the difference in animation except that it was perhaps a little more blocky. Not sure how to describe but if you do see the anime series you call tell the difference but for all intentions it can pass for the Psycho-Pass (Season 1) animation. The small changes do notice though makes me prefer the more lithe animation style of Production I.G. This is good from my point of view since would feel disorientated if it had a whole different look. It would just not feel like Psycho-Pass.
For a first episode intro to our return of Psycho-Pass it was pretty stellar. I am also really glad that the Psycho-Pass 2 opening theme song is by Ling Tosite Sigure which is titled, Enigmatic Feeling. Again this is Ling Tosite Sigure not TK from Ling Tosite Sigure. While I am not exactly sure if this is the final opening theme song reel to be seen each episode. Overall I like the music very much but the animation here and there though almost seems like it does not really fit to the music. Pretty sure the animation sequences will change after a few more episodes, so not overly worried. If not the music is still very much good.
Read further but take into account that from this point on its more like commentary and episode analysis so there might be spoilers.
Psycho-Pass 2 Final Thoughts on Episode 1-Review
Telling it honestly and straight
I really like this new Tsunemori. She is so much like Kogami. She is way more of a deep thinker and can make quick and decisive decisions. That character development really comes across. This first look really gave me the excited pang usually had way back when I first watched Psycho-Pass. So now I am getting this really strong nostalgia. So excited for more! And then there is the Psycho-Pass movie to look forward to. With this first look, we got to see some of the characters besides Tsunemori. I really felt that filling Tsunemori’s old role and outlook was Shimotsuki. Even though Tsunemori in Season 1 of Psycho-Pass was never this irritating. I really find Shimotsuki a very annoying character! So many times in the episode I felt she kept questioning Tsunemori’s actions and I kept thinking she never once could do a better job than Tsunemori because throughout the episode she had no deep deductive reasoning skills like Tsunemori. Seriously if Shimotsuki could do a better job she should have instead she believes Tsunemori is wrong. Yet during the whole episode it was Tsunemori who was steps ahead of a latent criminal! Right now Shimotsuki is on my list of least favorite anime characters. From all the questioning on Shimotsuki’s part this only gives us one real thing to expect and that is she will come into conflict with Tsunemori. How that will play out will be interesting to see. Before that happens I am sure there will be a lot of arguments between Tsunemori and Shimotsuki. Now with the first episode think replacing my old favorite Psycho-Pass anime character who turned out to be the villain is this guy. See below. Pretty sure voiced by Ryohei Kimura! Unless I detected wrong. By the way, Takahiro Sakurai returns as Enforcer Hinakawa this rather shy character in the anime series. In conclusion, I am pretty excited to see more Psycho-Pass and if you’re someone who has not seen this anime series. There is only one thing to say: You’re missing out.
Get ready for Psycho-Pass, a hardboiled, gun-slinging sci-fi series from the creator of Madoka Magica and the studio that brought you Ghost in the Shell.
In the future, even just thinking about a crime is enough to make you guilty – and justice is dispensed from the barrel of a gun. Detectives work in teams made up of Enforcers and Inspectors. Enforcers take out the bad guys, and Inspectors make sure their partners don’t cross the fine line between good and evil. The great equalizer in the war against thugs is the Dominator, a futuristic weapon that can read minds and assess the probability that a citizen will turn criminal. There are no trials. Only Enforcers, Inspectors, and the Dominator. Commit a crime in your mind – and the Dominator will make sure you pay the ultimate price. Season 2.–FUNIMATION

Psycho-Pass 2-Opening [OP] Theme song
Enigmatic Feeling by Ling Tosite Sigure
In many ways feel like Enigmatic Feeling is on the same level as Abnormalize. Its incredible. Ling Tosite Sigure is incredible.
Psycho-Pass 2-Ending [ED] Theme song
Ending Credits Version-Psycho-Pass 2 Episode #1
Fallen by Egoist
Not bad but songs by Egoist while very, very pretty do not stick in my memory for long like the music of Ling Tosite Sigure does.
